Maarten Pieter Schinkel

    Maarten Pieter Schinkel is Professor of Economics at the University of Amsterdam, Faculty of Economics and Business. He is also a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law. Schinkel is co-director of the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE). His research interests and teaching focuses on industrial organization and regulation theory, in particular the enforcement of competition rules. His recent papers consider aspects of European competition law enforcement, including antitrust damages, settlements, leniency and behavioural State aid conditions. He is a Senior Consultant for Charles River Associates (CRA). He served in several public functions, including as Deputy Economic Counsel to the Board, a temporary academic second with the Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) in The Hague. Schinkel is a DAAD fellow, a NAF fellow, a Fulbright fellow, a Research fellow of the Tinbergen Institute and a member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities. He obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maastricht in 2001.
